Virginia Motorcycle Lobby Day Meeting 2025 – CANCELLED

Sunday January 19, 2025

The Virginia Coalition of Motorcyclists (VCOM)  had great attendance at our annual Round Table meeting in November.  We discussed a variety of topics and some possible legislation, but ultimately decided not to submit any legislation for 2025.   VCOM’s Lobbyist, Susan Gaston, along with Tom McGrath and myself, will be educating and discussing with Senators and Delegates the need for motorcyclists to exit the highway when adverse conditions exist. We hope those discussions will result in VCOM successfully getting legislation passed on this issue in 2026. The specific verbiage of the 2026 Bill will be discussed in our 2025 Round Table meeting.

We monitor daily all Bills being submitted by the Senate and the House that affect motorcyclists.  All the pre-session Bills filed to date do not adversely affect motorcyclists.  As the 2025 session opens and progresses, if adverse legislation drops, VCOM will immediately take action to voice motorcyclists’ opposition and post the Bill by its identifying number for your reference. You can find updates at the VCOM website at https://vcomonline.org/

As many of you know, this is a short session, plus, the start of the session has been delayed until Monday, January 13,2025.  As a result, we will cancel VCOM’s Lobby day for this year.  Our next Round Table meeting will be in October.

As always, if you have any questions regarding this matter or any other matters affecting motorcyclists, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
